“I’ve even got plans to run to my Christmas dinner! It’s a huge commitment but I’m determined to see it through.”

Local people do amazing things for Trinity Hospice – but Craig Daniels, manager at the County in Lytham, has done something special every day for the past six months, and won’t stop until he has run and cycled every day for 365 days. Craig and two friends made a pact to do 365 days of running and cycling: 10 miles of running and 40 miles of cycling every week for a year – but with the added pressure of having to run at least one mile or cycle three miles every single day.

Since starting the challenge in May Craig has lost 3 stone and as well as running and cycling along local roads has also been taking part in Trinity’s fundraising events such as Colour Splash and Santa Dash. He has also completed the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride and Lytham Park Run.

He has already raised over £1,000 on his year-long quest. The hospice is close to Craig’s heart, having cared for his dad, whose 10th anniversary of May 21st is the finish date of the 365 day challenge. Even that final day will see Craig run again – he has a 5km celebratory fun run planned at Lytham Hall.

Craig said: “It has been hard, especially as the temperature has dropped and the nights are drawing in. You have to go out in all weathers and sometimes, with work and other commitments, the window of opportunity can be small. I ran each day of my holiday in Egypt, when I sometimes found myself jogging in the middle of nowhere, and I’ve even got plans to run to my Christmas dinner on December 25th! It’s a huge commitment but I’m determined to see it through.”
