- NIHR portfolio research studies including clinical drug trials, both commercial and non-commercial
- Student/academic-led research
- ‘Own Account’ research, for example, research ideas generated by hospice colleagues who are responsible for the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the research, from protocol development to dissemination of results
