Festive events
Christmas is fast approaching and both Trinity Hospice and Brian House have been transformed with Christmas trees and decorations as we welcome a whole host of special seasonal visitors. The AKS Choir sang for us in the Chapel, performing a mix of old and new Christmas songs for patients, staff and volunteers. Afterwards the youngsters had a quick tour around Brian House, to learn about the children’s hospice and the services we provide.
Our annual Santa Dash was a red and white extravaganza on the Promenade, with over 1,000 Santas running and walking to raise money for us. A big thank you to everyone who took part. There’s a school Reindeer Run almost every day too: over 6,000 children are involved in this fabulous community fundraising event.
Fleetwood Town FC came to Brian House to meet our staff and children and had a tour of the hospice – as well as making Christmas decorations in our craft room! Their support is really appreciated and they were a pleasure to host.
This Sunday (Dec 13) is our Light up a Life celebration in the hospice gardens, when our outdoor Christmas trees are lit against a backdrop of Christmas carols and candlelight. Each light on the trees is in memory of someone special, and will twinkle throughout the festive season. Our indoor tree is covered in stars, also in memory of loved ones. Donations to Light up a Life will help fund our frontline services, so a big thank you again to everyone who has given.
We have more visitors lined up as we approach Christmas, and a Panto performance or two, as well as the Brian House Nativity. Our youngsters have been making the most of their mini bus by getting out and about on a series of exciting day trips and our Day Therapy patients have been enjoying a festive meal together.
Whichever way you look at it, it’s a special time of the year here, and we can’t quite believe that our 30th birthday is almost drawing to a close. Thank you again for your support.
