Trinity Nurse to cycle from London to Amsterdam
Nic Lewis is no stranger to gruelling challenges. In 2018 she biked from London to Paris and trekked the Great Wall of China, in 2019 climbed Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya, and at the start of 2022 smashed Couch to 5k and the Beaverbrooks 10k after two years out. All to raise funds for Trinity Hospice.
And now she’s about to jump in at the deep end once again. On the 8th June, Nic will cycle from London to Amsterdam: a four day challenge which will see her cover over 90 miles a day!
“It will be tough as I haven’t really cycled since London to Paris. My fitness has depleted in the past few years and I’ve gained the ‘Covid stone’ and some!
“I’ve done various hiking challenges in the past but the cycling ones are a killer. I think it’s the mileage you put into it that makes it so hard.”
Despite this Nic- a Senior Staff Nurse on Trinity’s In-Patient Unit- is determined to complete the challenge and raise as much money as possible for Trinity once again.
“I’ve worked at Trinity’s for over six years now, with the last two years being a huge struggle as a result of Covid. My colleagues and I worked continuously throughout the pandemic to support people at the end of life.
“The hospice has taken a financial hit due to the pandemic and that is why I am raising money for this much needed local charity.”
We can’t wait to hear all about how Nic gets on and wish her the best of luck!
