Lucas learns a new talent for Trinity
A Blackpool boy whose Mum works at Trinity Hospice has risen to the challenge of fundraising through music.
Six year old Lucas Algar, a pupil at Unity Academy, is being sponsored to learn as many short tunes as he can in a month, as part of Trinity’s ‘Lockdown Learning’ campaign. The money he raises will help Trinity’s emergency appeal launched last week.
Lucas is tackling the theme tunes to Mr Bean, Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig, with more in the pipeline, and has already beaten his £300 target.
His Mum Zoe is graphic designer at Trinity and says: “He has always had an interest in music but never really wanted to take the leap and learn the keyboard until now. Last Christmas he took part in the Elf Run for Brian House at his school, and now he wants to help raise money for Trinity Hospice.
“He was really concerned when he heard me talking to dad about the millions that Trinity could potentially lose this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“He is missing school and this lockdown learning project has brought a lot of laughter into our home during the restrictions. Many of his teachers have sponsored him, and he is featured in his school newsletter, which is wonderful. His dad and I are very proud.
“I see first- hand how hard the hospice staff are working to ensure the best quality palliative care is still provided for people across the Fylde Coast. Trinity needs our support, and each little fundraising effort will mean a lot to those who need Trinity’s care.”
