This week there was a wonderful moment of celebration on the In-Patient Unit as colleagues gathered to recognise one of their own, Ellie Sykes, for a fantastic personal and professional achievement.

Ellie has been part of the Trinity Hospice team since 2022, beginning her journey as a Nurse

Associate. Since then, through her hard work and a passion for patient care, she has gone on to achieve her Registered Nurse degree. She is set to officially graduate this July, marking an important milestone in her career.

To celebrate her achievement, Ellie’s colleagues organised a surprise in the Trinity Hospice Garden Room. She was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a bottle of prosecco and a certificate marking her degree completion. It was a lovely moment, filled with pride and a real sense of team spirit.

Ellie was visibly touched as she read through a card filled with heartfelt messages from her colleagues. Reflecting on their support, she said “Thank you for believing in me.”

Collette, Inpatient Unit Clinical Manager, congratulated Ellie on her achievement and shared how proud the team is of everything she has accomplished. She also expressed her delight that Ellie has such strong ambitions for her future at Trinity Hospice.

Ellie’s journey does not stop here. She is already looking ahead, with plans to continue developing her skills and one day progress into a senior nursing role. Speaking about her future, Ellie said, “I’m excited to keep going and keep growing!”

Ellie also shared that she loves having something to work towards, and her journey is a great example of how development opportunities can help staff thrive. At Trinity Hospice, supporting colleagues to learn, grow and achieve their ambitions is something we are incredibly proud of.
