This week is Housekeeping Week, shining a light on the people who keep workplaces, hospitals and public spaces clean, safe and welcoming. And Trinity Hospice is celebrating a team whose contribution is vital to everything they do.

While doctors, nurses and care teams are often at the forefront of people’s minds when they think about hospice care, behind the scenes Trinity Hospice’s housekeeping team works tirelessly every day to create safe, comfortable and homely environments for patients, families, staff and volunteers.

From carefully cleaning bedrooms and family spaces to maintaining high standards of infection prevention and ensuring every corner of the hospice feels welcoming, the team plays a crucial role in the care and support provided across both Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice.

For families facing some of life’s most challenging moments, these seemingly small details can make a world of difference.

Housekeeping Manager Tracy Parkinson said: “Our team takes enormous pride in what we do. We know that a clean, comfortable and welcoming environment helps people feel safe and cared for at what can be an incredibly difficult time in their lives. Whether we’re preparing a patient’s room, supporting infection control standards or simply making sure the hospice feels like home, every member of the team understands that their work contributes to the care experience.

“We may work behind the scenes, but we all feel privileged to play our part in supporting local families.”

The housekeeping team works across both Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice, often starting early and finishing late to ensure facilities are maintained to the highest standards. Their work supports not only patients and families, but also the hundreds of staff, volunteers and visitors who pass through the hospices each week.

The charity’s Chief Executive, David Houston, said: “Housekeeping colleagues are an essential part of our hospice family. Their dedication, professionalism and attention to detail help create the compassionate, welcoming environment that families experience when they visit us.
