You can support Trinity in many ways and however you decide to give, you are helping to make a huge difference to the lives of local people and their families.
Many local people are surprised to learn that hospice care isn’t provided by the NHS and as a local charity we must raise over £5 million a year in voluntary donations. It’s a big challenge.
Demand for hospice care has never been higher, but we receive only limited money from the Government – about a third of Trinity’s annual costs – and so must rely on the generosity of our supporters to keep our doors open.
We receive £2.5 million each year from the local Primary Care Trusts and a small amount from the Department of Health, but our entire service costs around £7 million to run.
That’s why every penny raised by our supporters makes a real difference.
We spend our money very wisely but rising costs mean the pressures on day to day funding never go away.
The economic climate and the squeeze on local health spending make fundraising a real challenge and we are constantly exploring new opportunities; not just to raise money, but also to promote the work Trinity does, because people who have never needed hospice care for their loved ones tend not to think about what would happen if it wasn’t there.
We work hard to inspire people of all ages to get involved and to give to us; but no one should ever feel compelled to support us, and we try and ensure that there’s something for everyone when it comes to events and opportunities. The Trinity story already spans more than 30 years and with the continued support of the local community we can plan with confidence for the future – whatever that may bring – in a world of uncertainty and rapid change.
