Albert’s Story

Albert attends our Day Therapy Unit. He is a very keen photographer and had just bought a new camera. During a conversation with the staff he said that he would love to go to the Zoo to photograph the animals. So the nurses, unknown to Albert, asked volunteers Frank and Barbara if they would take him.  They were delighted to help – as were Blackpool Zoo.

The first dates were postponed because of bad weather;  but eventually they got a perfect day. The Zoo waived all entry fees and even allowed Albert to feed the giraffes, which he thoroughly enjoyed.  He took some fantastic photographs and attended several talks by the Zoo keepers as he visited each of the enclosures.

Albert, Frank and Barbara all loved their walk on the wild side – and Albert now has 200 photos for the album!
