Complementary Therapy Assistant
18 hours per week
£34,817 rising to £37,518 after 12 months in post (pro rata)
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Complementary Therapy Assistant to join our Living Well Services team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support patients, carers, and families by delivering a range of complementary therapies that enhance comfort, wellbeing, and symptom relief.
You will work closely with clinical and wellbeing teams to provide therapies such as massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, and reiki, tailored to individual needs in hospice, community, or outpatient settings.
Main Duties of the Job
- Deliver safe and effective complementary therapies in line with assessed needs and within your scope of practice.
- Support patients with empathy, dignity, and respect, ensuring informed consent and comfort throughout.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, documentation, and professional conduct.
- Participate in team handovers, audits, and service development initiatives.
- Contribute to patient education, informal teaching, and peer learning.
About You
Essential Criteria:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Basic training or certification in at least one complementary therapy (e.g. massage, aromatherapy, reflexology).
- Experience working in a care, hospice, or healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work sensitively with patients with life-limiting conditions.
- Understanding of confidentiality, infection control, and health & safety.
Desirable Criteria:
- Additional complementary therapy qualifications (e.g. Reiki, Indian Head Massage).
- Experience in palliative or end-of-life care.
- Membership of a professional body (e.g. FHT, CNHC).
