Assistant Management Accountant

Location: Blackpool

Salary: £28,000 – £33,000 FTE
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term (with potential to become permanent)
Hours: Circa 30 hours per week

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a charitable organisation? We’re seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Management Accountant to join our dedicated finance team in Blackpool.

🧾 About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play a vital role in delivering accurate and timely financial insights. From preparing monthly management accounts to supporting budget holders and contributing to system improvements, your work will help ensure financial integrity and support our charitable mission.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for retail and provide commentary to the Head of Retail
  • Assist with Hospice accounts and variance analysis
  • Support budget holders with financial analysis
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals and prepayments
  • Process journals and assist with month-end/year-end procedures
  • Provide cover across finance functions including purchase and sales ledger
  • Contribute to the implementation of a new finance system
  • Support budget setting, forecasting, and audit preparation
  • Assist with payroll and pensions administration
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Collaborate across departments to support strategic goals

👤 About You

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a finance environment
  • Strong Excel and accounting software skills (e.g., Sage, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and time management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

  • AAT qualified or NVQ Level 4 in Accounting
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
