Three decades of volunteering
Trinity Hospice celebrates its 30th birthday this year (actually this week!) and we are also celebrating the achievements of our volunteers.
Incredibly, we have five volunteers who have been helping us since the very beginning – that’s three decades of dedicated service for which ‘thank you’ just doesn’t seem adequate. They have each been presented with a commemorative trophy as a small but heartfelt tribute for everything they have done for us.
What better time than national Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their achievements?
David Houston, Trinity Hospice Chief Executive said: “It is such a fantastic achievement and everyone here at the hospice is grateful for those incredible 30 years of service. They will have seen many changes over the years, but despite changing demands in their home, family and working lives, they have always stayed with us.
“Their unswerving loyalty to Trinity is something we must all pay tribute to: volunteers like them help make the hospice the amazing place it is.”
Could you join our wonderful 30 year award winners?
Sue Schofield has volunteered in both Trinity and Brian House – she came to us soon after we opened because a relative had been cared for here.
Marion Hornby combined a career on the hospital switchboard with her Trinity volunteering – she’s now on the In-patient tea trolley.
Flower arranger Margaret Daniels has done many roles here – and is also involved with the Hospice choir.
Receptionist Janet Pendlebury has been a familiar face at Trinity for three decades – she was a secretary at the hospital when she first came to an Open Evening 30 years ago!
Date for your diary: Meet some of our volunteers at Fleetwood’s Marine Hall this Thursday June 4th when they take part in the Wyre Community Showcase. Starts at 1pm and features Trinity models in a fantastic fashion show!
