The Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k Fun Run returns

The Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k Fun Run is back, and takes place in less than three weeks’ time.

Hundreds of runners will take their place at the start line outside The Savoy Hotel on Sunday 10th May, prepared to give it their all while doing something amazing for local hospice care.

The annual run, which has been held on Blackpool’s promenade for over 40 years, is organised by Trinity Hospice, and last year raised over £100,000 for the Fylde coast charity.

Already, more than 1,500 people have signed up, and the hospice’s events team says the fun run is expected to raise £80,000 from runners raising sponsorship or making donations.

Among them is Shannon Rossall, whose run will mark five years since losing her dad, Donald.

She said: “Trinity Hospice cared for dad and supported our family during one of the hardest times of our lives. They allowed him to be at home, comfortable and surrounded by love, and for that I will always be grateful.

“I’ve done a few fundraisers in the past, but I’ve wanted to do something extra special for Trinity Hospice for a long time. With this year marking the fifth anniversary of my dad’s death, it felt like the right time.”

Shannon has raised nearly £800 in sponsorship for her run.

Events Manager, Kayleigh Penn, said: “The Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k Fun Run is the first major event in our calendar, and we’re delighted that so many runners have already signed up to join this iconic run down the prom.

“That so many of these wonderful people have also made a donation as part of their entry or committed to raise money in sponsorship through their run means so much to us. Every pound raised or donated through this event means that we can continue to provide outstanding hospice care to people who need us in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

“Sharing Shannon’s story shows just how important events like our Fun Run are, and how everyone joining us on 10th May has an amazing opportunity to make an incredible difference to local people with life-limiting illness.

“We love this event because it is perfect for runners of all abilities, from seasoned professionals striving for a personal best, to fun runners wanting to make a difference through a personal challenge. Plus we have chip-times results so every runner will know their true 10k running time.

“We’re so grateful to Beaverbrooks for once again sponsoring this event, which they brought to the Fylde coast over 40 years ago.”

Entry to the Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k Fun Run is still open, and runners also have the option to buy a bespoke 2026 Fun Run t-shirt.
