Rain or shine…we’ll be running for Trinity
The annual Blackpool 10k for Trinity is almost here – and no matter what the weather, well over 1,000 people will line up on the Promenade on Sunday for one of the hospice’s biggest events.
The Beaverbrooks-sponsored 10k is a highlight of the local running calendar and always attracts some top class amateur athletes. Runners are travelling from across the region to compete, but it’s an event for just about everyone, so the fancy dress fun runners will be out in force too. We just hope they won’t need their waterproofs!
The 10k starts at 11am at the Hilton Hotel, Blackpool and the Promenade will be closed for the race. Trinity has a huge team of volunteers helping on the day and the Fundraisers are hoping that the event – in our 30th birthday year- will be one of the best in its long history.
Linzi Young, Head of Fundraising for Trinity said: “Once again we have had the staunch support of Beaverbrooks and a whole host of other people to ensure the Blackpool 10K is a big success. We are very grateful to them all, because the event is a massive fundraiser for us.
“People can run for any good cause, but we are hoping that those who are running for Trinity or Brian House will try to raise £30 or more for us to help celebrate our 30 years of care in the community.
“Everyone here is ready for an early start. Online entries have closed but people can register on the day at the Hilton – they need to make sure they give themselves enough time and remember that parking close to the start can be difficult.
“It’s going to be a great event and the only thing we can’t control is the weather, but we know from experience that a bit of rain doesn’t deter anyone.”
