Make volunteering your New Year’s resolution!
Whichever part of the Hospice you are in, at whatever time of the day, you’ll meet a volunteer. Our volunteers are involved in almost every aspect of life at Trinity and they help to create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
If you have a few hours to spare, you could be part of our story too – either here at the Hospice or out in the wider community.
January sees the start of our new Volunteer campaign, encouraging local people of all ages to get involved with Trinity and Brian House. It’s a response to the dozens of enquiries we have had recently from people who simply didn’t realise the number and variety of opportunities on offer, or how to get involved.
Volunteers help on the reception desk, make and serve tea for patients, they look after the gardens and drive patients to and from appointments. But you can also volunteer for us across the Fylde Coast; perhaps in one of our 15 Trinity shops or marshalling at our big fundraising events such as the Fun Run or illumathon.
We have around 900 volunteers whose combined efforts save us about £1.6 million a year: to us they are priceless. They take on roles which as a local charity we would find it hard to finance, but which make a massive difference to patients and staff here at Trinity and Brian House.
In addition, our dedicated retail volunteers help keep the doors open at our 15 charity shops across the Fylde Coast. By giving their time, they help bring in £300,000 a year to help pay for patient care: so by taking on a role not actually located at the Hospice, they still have a huge impact on the people we care for.
Some volunteers give us many days of their time each month; others can manage just a few hours, but all are very welcome. Take a look at our Volunteering section on the website for details of current vacancies. https://www.trinityhospice.co.uk/support-us/volunteer/
This is Trinity’s 30th birthday year and there’s never been a better time to get involved. We run a comprehensive induction programme for new volunteer starters and also hold appreciation events during the year. Being a volunteer can bring new skills, new friends and a whole new outlook on life.
Why not become part of our team in 2015? It’s going to be a great year.
