Learn more about hospice care
Many people hesitate to visit a hospice without very good reason – but we want as many people as possible to attend our Open Day on October 13.
The Open Day, which is 10am – 2pm, is part of national Hospice Care Week, and is designed to spread the word about hospice care and help local people learn more about what’s involved.
There will be a chance to take a tour of both Trinity and Brian House Children’s Hospice, meet some of the frontline staff and volunteers, and learn about the planned improvements to facilities. Our Medical Director Dr Susan Salt will give a short talk at 12 noon.
Trinity Chief Executive, David Houston said: “I know that sometimes people without any personal experience of hospice care can be unsure about how to approach us and cross the threshold for the first time. The tours offered on Open Day won’t involve seeing patients but will give people the chance to view our facilities and meet our staff.
“Hospice Care Week is about breaking down barriers and is the perfect reason for people who do not know Trinity well to come along and find out more. If you have never visited Trinity, this could be the ideal opportunity for you to see how we play a vital role in the community and how we use the money so kindly donated by local people.”
On Open Day each part of the hospice will stage a display about its work, and there will be an opportunity to visit the hospice Chapel and the newly refurbished Day Therapy Unit, where complementary therapies will be on offer at a small charge.
You don’t need to make an appointment – just turn up. Refreshments available.
