Living Well Reception Volunteer
Location: Trinity Hospice, Bispham
Objective:
To greet patients and relatives attending the Living well service and help them to feel at ease, to ensure they have a positive experience and the best welcome to the service.
Tasks:
- Greet patients/ relatives as they enter the service.
- Ensure they get to the right member of staff/ waiting area.
- Offer attendees to service refreshments (tea/coffee) & clear away cups after use.
- Picking up deliveries and supplies from other areas, such as milk.
- Liaising with kitchen to restock refreshments.
- Supporting patients/relatives (where required) and to put them at ease.
- Take phone messages (where required) and pass on to the appropriate staff member.
- Oversee a range of clinic lists and inform staff of any non-attenders.
- Put together information packs in preparation for new patients.
- Support the work undertaken by the support worker in decorating the reception area to celebrate special days in the year (Valentines, Easter, Halloween, etc).
- Ensure reception area is kept tidy.
- Direct training attendees (for the learning and research centre) to the correct area.
Skills:
- Sensitivity and understanding
- Good communication skills
- Dependable and able to commit to cover allocated shifts.
- Comfortable working with a variety of people.
- Flexible according to the needs of patients/staff/relatives on the day and adaptable to change.
- Someone who is happy to be busy but also understands there may be quitter times.
- Good communicator.
- Confident to support patients/relatives and be empathetic to their needs.
- Experience in reception, customer service or a clinical environment is desirable but not essential.
- Team player.

Commitment required:
To either commit to one of the following time slots on a weekly basis:
Monday – Friday: 9.30am-12.30pm or 12.30pm-3.30pm
- Attendance at any specific training.
