Garden party will celebrate hospice allotment
A dedicated allotment space for people and families being cared for at Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice is being opened up to the community at a special garden party this summer.
The allotment at HASSRA Sports Pavilion in Thornton Cleveleys provides a safe and immersive experience for hospice patients, including sensory plants especially planted for children being cared for in Brian House as well as for people living with dementia.
The garden party on Saturday 6th June will offer the wider community a relaxed afternoon of food, music and activities, alongside cake, craft and plant stalls and information about the hospice and the difference it makes for people with life-limiting conditions and their families.

The event is also an opportunity to discover more about the allotment itself – a tranquil, creative outdoor space kindly gifted by friends at HASSRA Sports and designed to support wellbeing through nature.
Gemma Webster, Community Engagement Officer at Trinity and Brian House, said: “This wonderful allotment offers our incredible hospice families a place to pause, create memories and spend quality time together away from clinical settings. From gardening and sensory experiences to simply sitting outdoors, the space is already having a positive impact on emotional wellbeing.
“Spaces like this are incredibly special. They allow families the freedom to just be together; to breathe, talk, grow and create memories in a peaceful environment. We’re so grateful to HASSRA for their generosity and ongoing support, and we’re excited to be part of this garden party, showcasing the fantastic efforts which make such a difference to the people we are privileged to care for.”
The garden party takes place on Saturday 6th June from 12noon until 3.30pm. Visitors will be able to meet the teams behind the project, learn more about how the allotment is used and find out how community partnerships continue to enhance care for local families at some of the most important times of their lives.
Everyone is welcome to attend, whether to enjoy the activities, support the stalls, or simply soak up the atmosphere and learn more about this inspiring community collaboration.
