Trinity named Charity of the Year
Trinity Hospice has won the coveted charity of the year title at the Charity Times annual awards in London.
In its category – for charities with an income of between £5 million and £10 million a year – it faced some very tough competition, including that from national charities.
Chief Executive David Houston and Medical Director Dr Susan Salt were at the ceremony and received the trophy on behalf of everyone associated with the Hospice.
David said: “I feel that this award is testament to the passion, dedication and enthusiasm of our staff and volunteers who work tirelessly supporting the patients and families in our care.
“The past two years have been extremely challenging for us and we have had to re-shape our organisation to ensure that we are well placed to meet changing demands for hospice care across the Fylde Coast. As a local charity, the economic slowdown placed additional pressures on us as we forged ahead with a much needed refurbishment and the launch of new services.
“It’s the first time we have entered the awards and the competition in our category was very fierce. I feel immensely proud to have accepted it on behalf of every person associated with Trinity – it is the perfect springboard for us as we move into our 30th anniversary year, focusing on our future work providing compassionate care in the community.”
