Trainers and tiaras at midnight
Sorry guys – it’s girls only for the fabulous Trinity Hospice illumathon – though our good friends at the Music Hall Tavern have helped us inject a bit of glamour into this year’s event!
Paul Carroll and Lee Sanderson, whose Jet2 ‘party plane’ supported Trinity Hospice earlier in the year, donned trainers and tiaras for the official launch of illumathon 2013.
Last year it was pyjamas but this time we are going for glitz and already hundreds of walkers have signed up for the event on September 7.
As ever, the start point is Sainsbury’s, Red Bank Road, Bispham and this year there is live entertainment to get everyone in the party mood before they start.
The Trinity Fundraising team had asked previous participants whether men should be allowed to walk this time – but the decision was to keep the 2013 event ladies only.
Collette Goodwin, event organiser for Trinity Hospice said: “The midnight walk is ladies only again but we welcome help from men to marshal the walk and make sure everyone taking part is ok – and it was great to have the support of the guys at the Music Hall Tavern, who know a thing or two about glamour!
“The families of our patients at Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice don’t always get a good night’s sleep, so it is always heartening to see that people are prepared to give up just one night’s rest to help us raise money.
“Sponsorship isn’t essential, but if everyone taking part raised just £50, we could make over £70,000 in one night!”
You can enter online or in person at the Hospice. Entry costs £15 and includes a walker t-shirt, bag, medal and all the information participants need to make it a night to remember.
