A big thank you to everyone

Serious athletes lined up with fun runners for the Beaverbrooks 10k for Trinity and really made it a day to remember, despite the wet and windy weather.

A field of over 3,000 runners raced along the Promenade in the less than ideal conditions, despite which winner Stuart Robinson finished in a very good 31:39 and first woman home was Lisa Ainslie in 39:53.

David Burns, a valued Trinity Hospice supporter, was first home in the wheelchair race.

Fundraising manager Linzi Young commented: “We must say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, and to everyone who helped on the day. Our youngest runners were just 11 years old, our oldest in their 80s. The fun runners were an absolute delight with their colourful and quirky costumes.

“Beaverbrooks have built the Blackpool 10K into a massive regional event over the past 30 years, and this year handed over the reins to us at Trinity. It was a huge responsibility but will be a very welcome fundraising boost for us.

“It was lovely to have the event started by our President, Jimmy Armfield, and to see so many people raising sponsorship for Trinity and Brian House.  Thank you to everyone who contributed, either as a runner or as a helper on the day – we couldn’t have done it without you.”
