Give your pooch a pound

Who better to help us promote the third annual Bark in the Park than Pip, the Pets as Therapy dog? Pip, who lives in Fleetwood with owner Pauline Kennedy, is a regular visitor to Trinity Hospice and Brian House.

Our other canine best friend is Finney, office assistant at Jelly Media, who are once again helping to sponsor Bark in the Park. Finney came to Trinity to take part in a photo shoot, but wouldn’t be persuaded into a superhero suit, which some of the other pooches will be wearing on the day.

Bark in the Park is our sponsored 5k dog walk, taking place on Saturday 20 April at 11am, starting and finishing at Lawson’s Showground, Blackpool. The event is open to all dog lovers and as it’s not a race, is suitable for all ages and dog breeds.

It really is a fundraising event with a difference, because it is your dog that gets sponsored not you, so join in the fun and ask your friends to give your pooch a pound in aid of Brian House. This year dogs (and owners) can wear Superhero costumes, because the walk is part of our involvement in Children’s Hospice Week, which has superheroes as its theme.

Collette Goodwin, Events Fundraiser from Brian House said: “Bark in the Park is a fantastic way for the community to support our work and over the last two years our canine friends have raised £12,000.

“It would be lovely to see some doggy superheroes, but there’s no need to wear fancy dress – we just want to see as many canines and their owners as possible, for what is a really fun event.”

Registration is £6 per dog (with unlimited humans) and all dogs receive a commemorative medal. There will be prizes and give-aways on the day. You can book online (see our home page) or call the hospice on 01253 359362.
