Hospice HCA receives apprenticeship Team Player award

A Trinity Hospice Healthcare Assistant has been awarded for her dedication to teamwork while going above and beyond to support those around her, whether they are hospice patients or colleagues.

Helen Dawe was one of 350 students in the running to receive the NHS Health & Social Care Apprenticeship Team Player Award, which was presented to her at the hospice during National Apprenticeships Week.

Helen works on the Trinity’s In-patient Unit and is carrying out her apprenticeship with Blackpool and the Fylde College. She is working towards becoming a qualified Senior Healthcare Support Worker at the hospice, where she has worked for seven years.
She was presented with her award in front of colleagues, volunteers and friends.

Helen said: “I am truly honoured and grateful to of receive the Team player Award, Working at Trinity Hospice is incredibly meaningful to me, and being recognised by NHS makes it even more special.

“Thank you to my work colleagues, my tutor and my fellow students as we supported each other through our apprenticeship.”

Practice Development Nurse, Cathy Whittaker, said: “We’re so proud of Helen for her thoroughly deserved award.

“It recognises her compassion, professionalism and dedication to patient care by working as a team with her colleagues while developing her skills. It was wonderful to bring everyone on the In-patient Unit together as Helen was presented with her award, and we’re lucky to have her on our team”
