Businesses join forces to raise over £31,000 for hospice charity

Businesses across the Fylde coast have competed to raise as much money as possible for local hospice care.

Their efforts combined have raised an impressive £31,393 for Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice.

A total of 13 businesses and community groups took part in this year’s Fylde Coast £50

Challenge, which sees each company spending four months to raise as much as they can from a starter fund of just £50.Taking victory was the Trinitas Day Choir which raised an incredible £5,643 through collections at rehearsals, tombolas and charity raffles as well as two ticketed events – a popular Music-a-thon and a Grease sing-along.

In second place, staff at Co-op Funeralcare Blackpool raised £4,984 through their exciting fundraising activities including a football syndicate, charity car washes, a wreath-making workshop and a quiz night.

Their efforts were celebrated along with those of all the businesses involved in a special luncheon at the Imperial Hotel.

Hosted by Coastal Radio presenter Ged Mills, the event provided a fun opportunity for Trinity Hospice to reward everyone’s fundraising.

The charity’s Corporate Fundraiser, Rebecca Moon said, said: “Once again, we have been totally blown away by the creativity our local businesses and community groups have demonstrated in their efforts to raise as much as possible for local hospice care.

“We love hearing about the ideas staff and supporters have to raise as much money as they can, and we really enjoy supporting them on their £50 challenge journey. But, despite the healthy competition that this challenge brings, it’s amazing to be able to share with everyone involved the wonderful difference they have made to local hospice care.

“Whether they chose to support Trinity Hospice or our dedicated children’s hospice, Brian House, the money raised through the Fylde Coast £50 Challenge will truly help our dedicated care teams to provide specialist hospice care to everyone who needs it across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

“A very big thank you to every person involved in this year’s challenge, and to Ged for being such a wonderful luncheon host.”
