How to raise sponsorship or make a donation

  • Raise sponsorship online through JustGiving: set up a page and share it across social media, in emails and via WhatsApp.
  • Fundraise offline and collect in the money using our paper sponsor form: if you don't just want to ask people to sponsor you, think outside the box. You could host a bake sale, sell unwanted items online or at a car boot, or even run a sweepstake asking people to guess your finish time.
  • Make a one-off donation: just use our online donation form.
  • Keep an eye out for marshals with 'Tap to Donate' machines and collection buckets at the event itself. Or, head over to our Donation Station. Cash and card accepted.

When you take part in Blackpool Glow Walk, you’re walking for someone you love while helping to create moments that matter for others. For Chris, that moment came when he married Ann.

They had been together for 35 years. “It was always one of those things… we’d say, ‘we’ll do it’ – but that day had never happened,” Chris says. After Ann was diagnosed with aggressive cancer, she asked Chris to marry her. “I couldn’t really refuse, could I?” he said.

With the help of our Hospital Palliative Care Team, that wish became a reality. In just days, our nurse Martha worked with staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital to arrange a bedside wedding. Chris says: “The wonderful Martha managed to arrange a wedding for us at very short notice, which I will be eternally grateful for.

“It was a beautiful ceremony. The smile on her face was just amazing. It was a perfect day for us.”

Soon after the wedding, Ann was admitted into Trinity Hospice where Chris says his family was looked after with compassion and dedication. Just ten days later, Ann died peacefully with her family by her side.

Chris will be joining you as you take part in Blackpool Glow Walk, and every step he takes will be in memory of Ann.
