Hospice Neighbour Volunteer
Location: Trinity Hospice, Bispham
Objective:
To provide practical support and companionship to patients in their own homes.
Tasks:
- Provide companionship or a listening ear
- Take the patient shopping or on short outings
- Take the patient to and from the Doctor’s or hospital appointments
- Provie respite for their carer if required
- Helping with practical tasks around the house or garden
- If comfortable and where required, walking the patients dog
- Preparing light snacks
- Provide a brief written record of each visit
Skills:
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to use own initiative when required.
- Be empathetic and caring, trustworthy and non-judgemental.
- Reliable and committed.
- Be able to commute/travel to patients home.

Commitment needed:
- To commit to visiting your patient once a week for an agreed amount of time (usually no more than 3 hours).
