Blackpool Colour Run - FAQs
If you registered before 10am on Tuesday 3rd October, we'll post your pack to you.
This will contain more information about the night itself, as well as a t-shirt voucher and details of how to use it.
If you registered after this time, you will need to collect your pack from the Info Desk on the night. This can be found on the Tower Headland and will be open from 6pm. You will also be able to collect your t-shirt on the night from the designated desk (please do this after collecting your pack as you will need to exchange the voucher).
The best way to keep up to date about packs and all other things Memory Walk is to join our dedicated Facebook event.
On registering, you should've received a confirmation email which included a unique reference number. If you can have this open to show our team on the Info Desk, this will help them locate your pack.
If you didn't receive an email, please check your spam. That failing, the team will be able to search their records for your name and get you your pack.
Please don't worry. Just come to our Info Point from 6pm and they will be able to issue you a new one.
If you can have your confirmation email and/or unique booking reference number to hand, this will help the team find your entry quicker and assign you a new walker number etc. If you can't find this, please just provide your name.
Your participant pack will contain a t-shirt voucher which you can exchange at the hospice ahead of the event.
Where: Trinity's Main Reception (Low Moor Road, FY2 0BG)
When: Monday - Friday, 9am - 8pm
The last opportunity to collect you t-shirt is midday on Friday 6th October. After this time you must pick your t-shirt up from the event's Info Point on the night, from 6pm.
If you signed up after 10am on Tuesday 3rd October, you will need to collect your participant pack at the event on the night from the Info Point and then head over to our t-shirt desk to get your top. Please don't queue for your t-shirt unless you have a voucher.
Yes! Please come to our Info Desk from 6pm.
We already have nearly 2,000 participants however are expecting more on the night registrations, so please come as early as you can to sign up.
Unfortunately, the deadline for submitting a dedication for our video was 25th August.
If you would like to remember someone/a number of special people, instead you can:
If you're not participating as a walker but would like to volunteer, we have spaces available for marshals.
Volunteering as a marshal is a great way to be a part of the Fylde coast's biggest events, as well as supporting Trinity Hospice. Whether you volunteer on your own, with friends and family or with colleagues, you'll be fully briefed and be given a point of contact to ensure you and the participants around you are safe.
If you're interested in volunteering at this year's Blackpool Memory Walk, or have any questions, please contact Danny Hickes, Events Fundraiser, on 01253 952557 or danny.hickes@nhs.net
Blackpool Memory Walk starts on the Tower Headland near to the Comedy Carpet (across from Blackpool Tower). The walk also finishes here.
The walk itself will start at 7.30pm, however we invite all participants to join us from 6pm for the build up!
We have lots of entertainment throughout the night as well as our tribute display.
You can choose from two distances: 5 or 8 miles.
5 miles: participants will walk north from the Tower Headland towards Red Bank Road. Here, they will make a U-turn and head back to the Tower Headland.
8 miles: participants will complete the 5 mile route, but on returning to the Tower Headland will carry on walking to the Sandcastle Waterpark. Here, they will turn around and make their way back to the Tower.
Both routes will be marshalled.
If you can't complete the event for whatever reason, please let one of our marshals or our back walker know before exiting the walk. This way the team at the finish line know you're not coming back.
If you're unable to carry on with the walk for a medical reason and need assistance, please go to the nearest marshal.
If you'd prefer to do 5 miles instead of 8 (or vice versa), that's absolutely fine!
Just make sure you collect your medal at the end.
All we kindly ask is that you DO NOT venture off whichever route you're doing i.e. to pitstop in an establishment for refreshments. This is for your own safety. The events team will also be waiting for you at the finish line with your medal. We can't guarantee you'll get this if you don't complete the walk in our suggested time. Please see 'is there a time limit' with regard to this.
Whilst there is no time limit on this event, we estimate that all walkers will have finished by 10.30pm, regardless of which route they choose to take.
Please note thought that we reserve the right to impose a cut off time, to allow the site to be cleared of participants, equipment and litter.
As with all our events, we do our very best to make this event as safe as possible.
All routes will be fully marshalled, security will be present in the event village and first aid will be available throughout the duration of the event.
Should you need to report anything or seek medical attention, please speak to the nearest member of Trinity Hospice staff, volunteer or marshall.
For more safety info, please read our terms and conditions
Yes! Our friends from Froth Me Silly and Tornado Potato will be providing hot drinks and snacks. Please bring money as these are chargeable caterers.
We also suggest bringing a bottle of water and if you'd like, snacks for en route. As a bag drop isn't available at this event, it shouldn't be an issue carrying these if you'd like to bring a bag.
All Blackpool Memory Walkers will receive a Trinity t-shirt and bespoke medal.
One of the best things about Blackpool Memory Walk is that the event is open to everyone! You can even bring your dog!
All we ask is that any participants under the age of 16 are accompanied by a responsible adult, who has also registered for the event.
For more information, check out or terms and conditions.
If you register ahead of the event and receive a participant pack, then you do not need to do anything on the night.
Just remember to complete the reverse side of your participant number and pin it to your outermost layer.
As with all our events, there will be at least two volunteer photographers at this event. Members of our Fundraising Team will also be taking photos and capturing video.
Photos will then be shared in a public album on Facebook the week following the event, and linked to in the post-event email. Have a browse through and tag yourself and anyone else you know!
Please note that we don't receive all the photos from our volunteer photographers at the same time. If you think your pic was taken but don't see it online straight away, it might be because we don't have it yet. Please bear with us; we'll upload more as soon as we have them. Equally, the quality of the photo may be poor and the photographer may therefore decided not to share it. As a result, and to avoid disappointment, we strongly encourage participants to take their own photos, or ask one of our volunteers to take one for you!
Not much can put us off going ahead with Blackpool Memory Walk! However, we’d definitely think twice if the wind was getting a bit much and making the event unsafe. Keep an eye on social media for updates nearer the date.
There are bus, train and tram links close to where the event takes place.
Parking is available on nearby carparks, however these operate on a first come, first served basis. These carparks are also pay and display.
If you need to drive, please consider car sharing if you can, or see if anyone is kind enough to drop you off and pick you up again later.
You will need to carry your bag with you throughout your walk. Bag drop is not available at this event.
Please note that sizes are available on a 'first come, first served' basis.
As Blackpool Memory Walk takes place at night and on Blackpool Promenade, it's likely to get a little chilly. Check the weather on the day but definitely think about wearing layers and a coat, as well as your Memory Walk t-shirt (this can go over all your layers if it's not raining!)
As for shoes, go for something flat and comfortable like trainers.
Absolutely! Blackpool Memory Walk is all about remembering and celebrating the lives of loved ones no longer with us, and one of the best ways to do this is by decorating your t-shirts.
We also encourage all participants to pin photos onto their tops, as well as write on who they're walking in memory of. We would strongly recommend though that you DO NOT use original photos, and instead take a photocopy. There is no guarantee your photo will not come off during your walk or get damaged by the weather.
Yes! We'll have a number of porterloos in the Event Village and at the Sandcastle turnaround point that can be used free of charge.
There will also be toilets at the halfway point (Red Bank Road) however these are operated by Blackpool Council and will therefore need to be paid for. Please bring change.
It wouldn't be a Trinity Hospice event without merchandise! There will be lots available to buy from our merchandise stall including bright tutus, headbands, coloured shoe laces and more. Cash and card accepted (cash preferred if possible).
You can also order merchandise from our website. Take a look at our shop.
Yes. Before the Memory Walk begins, we'll invite all participants to come together and watch a montage filled with dedications.
If you would like to make a dedication, this can be submitted during the registration process.
Please note that:
The deadline for uploading photo(s)/name(s) is 10am on Friday 25th August. After this time you will still be able to register, but we will not be able to accept dedications.
There's nothing we love more than a dog or two at our event! Please feel free to bring your pooch, just remember that they must be on a lead and any mess must be cleaned up, both en route and in the Event Village.
This event is not timed
This year's Blackpool Memory Walk is free to enter for all participants. As a result, we're asking every walker or team to raise sponsorsip or make an additional donation.
All the money raised through Blackpool Memory Walk will come directly to the hospice and help support our services and those who need them.
To find out more about fundraising, click here
To make a one-off donation of your choice, click here
There are lots of ways to raise sponsorship and it doesn't necessarily have to be a direct ask for money!
If you've used JustGiving, you don't need to do anything! Your Blackpool Memory Walk sponsorship page will close automatically a few months after the event and the funds will come directly to us.
If you've collected funds offline, there are a couple of ways to get it to us:
Either way, we can’t wait to see how much you manage to raise! Just remember to ask everyone who’s eligible to GiftAid their contribution – it would mean we get an extra 25% from the Government at no extra cost to the person, all by just by ticking a box. How good is that?
We understand that not everyone wants to or is able to raise sponsorship, which is why offer you the chance to make a one-off donation instead.
You can do this during the registration process or here at any point.
We're extremely grateful for anything you can give. Thank you.
