New Sensory Room

There’s lots of smiles and laughter in Brian House thanks to a new Multisensory Room which has recently opened. The specialist facility uses bubble tubes, sound, fibre optic lights, a waterbed and tactile toys to provide a full multisensory experience, allowing children in our care to stimulate their different senses in a safe and exciting environment.

The Importance of Play

Brian House Play Specialist, Sue Pelling, talks about the benefits our patients get from facilities like this and the importance of play: “Our children have a range of complex illnesses, with varied needs and abilities but they all love to spend time in the new sensory room, whether it’s through sounds, touch or light there is something for all our children to enjoy and experience.

Many people think Brian House is a sad place, and whilst there are sad and difficult times, there are many more happy times. Everyone at Brian House would like to thank all the local businesses, community groups and individuals for their wonderful support and contributions, which has made the new sensory room possible.”

Your gift to us

One of our most vital income comes from people who remember Brian House and Trinity Hospice in their will. For example last year alone contributions such as these raised over a quarter of our annual income and thanks to these wonderful donations we are able to provide our valuable service and invest in new facilities and state-of-the-art equipment to so many local families

In fact it was a gift in a Will made a large and important contribution towards our new Multisensory Room. Executor of the will, Mrs Sheila Croft said; “My Aunt was very supportive of the work of the hospice and by leaving this gift in her Will she felt she was really able to make a difference locally. Having visited the hospice I can really appreciate how valuable this gift is and I know my Aunt would be delighted. I really would encourage people to consider leaving a gift to a charity in their Will”
