In-Patient Unit

Trinity Hospice In-patient Unit is a happy, friendly and supportive place staffed by angels. Our In-patient Unit provides specialist palliative care in a purpose built unit which has 28 beds in total.

We offer 24 hour specialist palliative care to patients with life limiting or life threatening illnesses. During their stay with us we aim to address their  physical, emotional and spiritual needs enabling them to return home. Some patients come into Trinity in their final days. Whilst addressing the patients needs we also support the family and carers needs during their stay.

We have 6 single rooms, 2 three bedded rooms and 4 four bedded rooms which look out to and have access to the garden. Each bed has their own television with DVD player and we have a computers for use by patients/carers and families.

Shortly after your arrival our doctor and admission nurse will discuss your individual care in a relaxed unhurried manner.

Patients are fully involved in decisions about their treatment and care enabling them to retain control and dignity. Nursing, housekeeping, catering, volunteers and other departments at Trinity aim to foster a friendly homely environment where there is a balance between specialist clinical expertise and recognising individual choice wherever possible.

We have open visiting at Trinity but between the hours of 9pm and 8.30am you may need to ring the front door bell to gain access. When visiting  please report to our reception on each visit to sign in and sign out on leaving. This is necessary to protect patients privacy and comply with Health and Safety regulations.

We welcome children and pets but in the interest of all our patients we ask that they are supervised by a responsible adult. Every effort is made to accommodate individual family requirements on a 24 hour basis but please understand that there may be occasions when restictions may be requested by the patient.

Our catering staff will cater for all your dietry needs and will visit you to discuss the menus of the day there is always menu option and every option is made to cater for individual tastes.

All rooms have a wardrobe and bedside cabinet in which to keep your personal belongings. You may need a small amount of money for incidentals and if you have any valuables please hand them to the nurse for safe keeping.

We have a telephone which accepts incoming calls and can be taken to you in your room. There are no restrictions on mobile phones either by patients or visitors provided their use does not disturb other patients.

We would appreciate if you could make yor own arrangements for the laundering of personal clothing. However, if you have no one to do this the hospice staff will be pleased to assist.
